Please join us for the next meeting of the DFW-area Digital Humanities Colloquium on Wednesday, February 27th from 1-3 PM in the at The University of Texas at Dallas. The colloquium will focus on the pedagogical value of digital humanities research tools such as TAPoR, collaborative wikis, GIS, visualization, and TEI. Although the use of technology such as learning management systems and social media in the classroom has been widely discussed, there has not been as much conversation about how the digital humanities tools we use in our research can help students learn.

The colloquium will consist of short presentations by a panel of instructors who regularly use such tools to achieve their course goals. Presenters will include:

Laurel Stvan, Associate Professor of Linguistics, UT Arlington
Kim Knight, Assistant Professor of Emerging Media and Communication, UT Dallas
Frank Dufour, Associate Professor, Arts and Technology, UT Dallas.

This colloquium should be of interest to all humanities scholars, whether or not they plan to use digital humanities tools in the classroom, because it will address the emerging role of the digital humanities from a pedagogical point of view.

The McDermott Suite is located on the fourth floor of the McDermott Library. Metered parking is available in front of the library, or you may request a complimentary parking pass from Michele Rosen (michele.rosen@utdallas.edu). Parking passes will be delivered electronically.
